Martin Désilets
Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) Residency
2022
Matière noire—In 2017, Martin Désilets started a quest : to photograph each and every modern and contemporary visual artworks displayed in museums and foundations, and then to superimpose them in a single digital file, over and over until a complete black has been obtained. Following a protocol he developed, which dictates the steps required to carry out the project, the artist estimates that more than a 100,000 artwork-images will be required to reach his goal. After cities like Paris, New York or Basel, London is where he will add up to this ongoing work in progress, before settling in Berlin for 2023.
Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ), Canada
In 2008-2009, in partnership with Québec's Ministry of Culture and Communications and the Ministry of International Relations and the Francophonie, and on the recommendation of Arts Council England, Conseil des arts et des lettres (CALQ) approached Acme to establish the Québec Studio in London, thereby expanding the network of residencies offered abroad to Québec artists and writers. The residency provides two six month long residencies per year in Bow, E3 for artists who have at least 10 years' experience of professional practice. Applications and selection are undertaken directly by CALQ.
