2009/10
Janne Malmros is a multi-media artist from Denmark. She is interested in botany, entomology, geometry, fashion and pattern. Research, investigations, experimentation and installation play an important part in her work, where the choice of materials are informed by the research and underlying idea of each individual project. The printed element is often the starting point for a three-dimensional work and employs careful cutting and folding to explore the potential of repeated pattern, volume, space, surface and shadow.
Janne’s recent exhibitions include Janne Malmros, Pandesia, at MOCA Museum, London, 2018, Between History & Human Being at The Total Museum of Contemporary Art, Seoul, 2019, Parallel Lines at The Light Box, Woking, 2019, Nothing Edures But Change at Andipa Gallery, London, 2014, Much Light Strong Shadow, at Skagen Museum, 2014. Janne is the winner of the Spotlight Award and the Clifford Chance Printmaking Prize.
Adrian Carruthers Award
The Adrian Carruthers Award is a partnership between Acme and the Slade School of Fine Art, funded by the Adrian Carruthers Memorial Fund and Acme. Aiming to provide a bridge between art school and professional practice, the award includes a generous bursary, rent-free studio space and a mentoring programme. Recipients of Acme’s Early Career Awards Programme work from shared studios in order to encourage an environment of peer support and critical dialogue.
